I’ve commented before on the portrayal of scientists, or their science, in the movies. Well what about Indiana Jones as an archaeologist? The very funny folks at McSweeny’s have put together a post titled:
The selection criteria for tenure requires, amongst other things, that the candidate can:
- demonstrate suitable experience and expertise in chosen field,
- be nationally recognized for an effectual program of scholarship or research supported by publications of high quality,
- meet professional standards of conduct in research and professional activities of the discipline,
- establishment of an appropriate record of departmental and campus service.
