International conferences are how geologists and other scientists keep up to date with what is going on in their field – however they are expensive, time consuming and often require long distance travel (especially when you live in Australia!).

Yesterday I was overjoyed to find that the biggest conference in geology (AGU in San Francisco) now provides links to e-posters! This means that I can scroll through research that interests me from my office (or living room) and contact the author using an online blog! This must be the future of conferences.
