I’m going to be honest, I’ve had a rough trot recently (man I’m starting to sound like my mother, next I’ll be calling myself a silly sausage). I’ve been finding the old PhD a bit of a struggle recently and I’ve not been my usual chipper self. I could even go as far as saying that I am not enjoying myself. I happened to come across this article in “The Thesis Whisperer” just the other day and it really spoke to me. I don’t think it is appropriate for me to swear so let’s just say that anyone doing a PhD really should read ‘The Valley of Ship’, or an article with a very similar title. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off for a walk….

** As an amendment, I should like to add that this is by no means a reflection of how I feel about the subject of my research. Climate archives in deep-sea corals are amazing! I’ve just had so many people tell me how I always look on top of things. I am here to tell you that even Lady Exuberance here has her bad days, yes she does.
