Earth Hour will be launched with a speech and countdown to the lights being switched off at 8:30pm by ANU Vice Chancellor, Ian Young. Another highlight of the evening will include the launch of the ANU Green Key iPhone app designed to allow residential students to audit energy and water consumption in their rooms. And as an added bonus, guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a rare star gazing opportunity with telescopes provided by the Black Hole Society on Fellows Oval from dusk.
A free BBQ will be offered from 6:30pm and international student groups will sell their cuisines throughout the evening. Bring the family and help to celebrate our sustainability success stories while joining over seven million Australian in switching off for this global event.
