As we wonder at the age of the universe it seems an appropriate time to look up at the night sky. Swedish photographer Göran Strand has been doing just that, and on March the 17th took 2464 images which you can see below as an extraordinarily beautiful time lapse. Sit back, digest your easter chocolate and marvel at the Aurora Borealis.

Watching the cosmic light show from the south, the Aurora Australis, was one of the highlights of my trip to Antarctica last year. Picture couresty of the ship’s doctor, Dr Peter Schuller.

I think that’s me in the corner, marvelling at the night sky. Or it could be a piece of the ships equipment, not that it’s easy to confuse the two, I just think I need glasses.
